I've been looking in to see if I could trial a full cheek happy mouth Straight bar snaffle for my soon to turning 3yo to break him in with, as I didn't want to go straight out and buy one for £30 if he doesn't get on with it. He's been bitted already in a full cheek, single jointed (in the middle), metal snaffle but I don't like the action it does in the mouth so have decided on the happy mouth straight bar..

My problem is, is that bit companies aren't willing to hire them out before hand as wear and tear on happy mouth and rubber type bits is a lot greater over a period of 30 days which I do fully understand.

Does anybody have any ideas how I can get around this to try him in one?? Or know any where that would hire one out??

I have asked around friends but no body I know owns one :(

Try ebay and local horse sales for cheap bits. Or keep an eye out for local equine car boot or table top sales. Or hire any mullen mouth or straightbar mouthpiece (which ever you are interested in) and see what he makes of that. If he's ok with that I reckon your onto a winner with the naithe as well?
