Has anyone tried Lickety Bit wraps? My horse doesnot like the bit and thinking of any ideas to help him accept the bit. They are a bit pricey but i have also seen Nettex bit wipes apple flavoured. Any suggestions out there :))

Yes I have used them and they are rubbish!!
1) They are tissue thin and trying to wrap them around the bit more than once is difficult.
2) Even if you wanted to wrap the Lickety wraps round the bit they are not long enough to go round more than once!

To conclude, absolutely rubbish! I just give polo mints once I put the bridle on and this appears to work for my pony. I did know of a person who used to tape a whole pack of polo mints to her horses straight bar snaffle and this used to encourage her horse to really stay on the bit!! The packet of polo's used to stay in place for about 3 or 4 rides, before she had to tape a new packet on. Each to their own!?!

Dip the bit in juice just before you put the bridle on , then either let the horse drink whats left or give when you finish riding. The only down side is that you must wash the bit well everytime as the sugar wont do it any good , also wipe the leather incase any has splashed onto it.

I had a horse who hated having his bit put on, so I just dipped it in honey. A few times was enough for him to never have this issue again.

I bought these years ago and they were a complete waste of money. A piece of apple was much more effective. I eventually tried a sweet iron bit and pony loved it. Was often heard sucking it!
