Never been hunting before and neither has my 4yr tb.
eant to be going next wednesday and quite worried about it now, worrying about my mare as shes so young and has little thin TB legs!!! there is another TB coming with us but the other horses are all MWs and cobby types.
I have got some tendon boots for her and knee pads (for the road) but am scared in case she falls or something happens.
Do many people take |TBs hunting?

hell yes
All those TB's have to hunt to qualify for the point to point
Plenty of eventers/show jumpers take their horses out to make them a bit braver.
Just boot her up if it makes you feel happier but be aware that if it's very muddy they may rub.
Go for it and have fun you won't jnow until you try it.

My OH whips in on his TB point to pointer and it copes fantastically. Horses are a lot more versatile than we give them credit for, go out and have a wonderful day.

Thank you :)
i think its just fear of the unknown!!
Shes very good out hacking across open fields and never gets strong, she loves jumping but hates mud!!!! hoping though with there being alot of other horses then hopefully she will just follow on.
Got visions of having to jump giant hedges!!!! and her stopping and me going over!!
Do they tell you when theres a jump or does everyone just go over at the same time??

I have a skinny tb boyo and you'd be amazed at how well he copes. I'd be careful on any horse when i'm jumping, going onto muddy ground etc. so i guess i never worry about him being a tb. Yes he's one of the finer ones whenever we go but he's very sane and chilled and does the job which is what matters.
Have fun and i hope you enjoy it :)

Totally agree with the others - she'll be fine! Plenty of horses out hunting are thoroughbreds - they are actually the best for many sorts of country. Just relax, enjoy yourself and keep an eye out for her getting tired or overexcited as she is a baby!
