Do you think there is a big difference (apart from the obvious!!!) in the two? In the sense of training, behavior toward other dogs etc.

My bitch is hugely devoted and not interested in other dogs all that much- gets snappy if they irritate her. My dog is friends with anyone and loves all dogs.

Hmmmm

Bitches all the time for me, so much easier to train, NO peeing up my hay, can not stand how dogs want to sniff and pee every where.

They say bitches are more loving, dogs are more sensitive.

I have had both, all the boy dogs have been very sensitive indeed, however the girls have been happy-go-lucky. Much like you say, my bitch is ambivalent to other dogs unless they overstep the mark. The boy dog is very interested but also timid with them.

If I wanted an only dog - I'd get a bitch. My dog doesn't like too much fuss/cuddling whereas the bitch is such a baby :D

I suspect that it depends upon the breed of dog, or specifically, what I want it for. So;

Gundogs.....Bitches.

Manwork....Dogs.

Collies........Dogs.

Lurchers.....Bitches.

Everyday companions?........Whatever came along and fitted in!

Alec.

My girl cocks her leg up hay bales, sniffs and covers scents, and generally acts like she's a dog rather than a bitch! She also humps things occasionally!
Saying that, I wouldn't swap her for the world, she's a sensitive little thing but so intelligent and I love her to bits! :o

I'd go with Alec Swans sum up :D I prefer bitches myself really only because the dogs always take so long to grow up my bitches mature around 2yrs where as my dogs even at 7 are still like puppies with that little naughty streak in them, totally harmless but you just know the little whatsit is going to make you wish a hole opened up in the ground:rolleyes:
