Bites/stings

My horse has been either bitten or stung in between his nostrils and has developed a large lump. I was just wondering what's the best thing to put on it as Aloe Vera Gel hasn't done anything and I'm wondering whether Germoline would be suitable? It's been there well over a week so I'm not sure whether it's time to call the vet out. The lump has a small pin-prick mark on top.

When the bite is new - rub well with vinegar. I keep a plastic jar in my grooming kit stuffed with cottonwool balls soaked in white vinegar. Works brilliently on humans too.

It will go down in a few days - he's probably been itching it.
