The baby is feeling his teeth, i don't want to make him headshy but am getting fed up with being nipped, anyone have a way of stopping this without smacking his head!

kick him on the shin when he bites. They are so shocked that the biting stops quickly and no probs with headshyness or ducking, Works a treat.

I generally copy what our mare does and grab a peice of skin on the neck and twist! If the babies nip the older horses, they get bitten back, but not on their heads.

Also if you can put them with an older horse this helps with generally nipping

Have tried the kicking the shin thing and didn't make any difference, daughter went out with a water pistol this morning and squirted him every time he tried it on, he seems to be getting the idea, thanks everyone.
