Biting horses

If your horse bites someone i.e. someone saying 'hello' to it are you liable?

I always think if I approach the horse, I put my hand (any body part) in the horses personal space then if I'm bitten it's my fault.

If I didn't accept the potential risk of getting bitten/kicked I wouldn't go near a horse

So no I don't think you're liable. The person saying 'hello' should be aware that animals are unpredictable.

Absolutely not. My foal bites and has done since it was 10 minutes old. It bit my neighbours child. They did inform me but with no recriminations. I just said she should keep away in future. To keep the peace you could put a sign up but tbh this can have a reverse effect

You should teach your horse and any other horse that to bite is definitely not allowed.

I think if a horse bit me it would be my fault not the horses i chose to enter his space and he is merely telling me to get out!
