Well I havnt made that decision yet, im looking into it as he hates joins in his bit, and is so so so strong in a rubber bit!!! Hes a 17.2 well built warmblood, and im only a 5ft 6 female!!! At the mo we have just started using a myler basic dressage legal snaffle, and this is okay, but hes not fab, so just wondered about the bitless approach, why did you change???

Hi Foxyeventing
I have the same problem with my Oldenburg mare
She has a small mouth, big tongue and fleshy lips and not great in a bit and is hyper senstive to any pressure
I ride her bitless in a natural hackamore as well as using a conventional bridle.
What type of Myler are you using? I found that the low ported myler comfort snaffle as been really good for getting her used to a bit. No joint action and quite a lot of tongue relief. The other bit I found really good (which is really cheap) is a Cambridge or Magic Snaffle, small bit with tongue relief about £8 on Ebay.

Hmmm yes i had a look at a cambridge snaffle, a friend of mine competes in one and has never been pulled up, so will look into that. As from monday i changed him to a myler it is the real basic level one normal snaffle, ive also had to ditch the noseband as he hurt his lip!!! so he looks like a cow boy, but so far so good!!! we only hacked out this morning but he went very well, and was a happy lad.

Thanks so much every one....
