so a friend suggested to me yesterday i should maybe try my boy in a bitless bridle.

he can be strong, but permanently evades the bit, opens his mouth, chucks his head about ect ect, but ride him in a head collar and he is totally different...

but i dont like the idea of having no control if he did decide to "go" so im wondering if any one who uses/switched to bitless bridles can shed some light on what they are all about pro's and con's

and those that have gone from bitless to bit ... why???

i would love to try it but need to no the ins and outs before i do

thank you xx

I ride my mare in a Dr Cooks about 50% of the time. She listens well, can get a bit excited in company but hasn't run off with me yet. She will dance if others go off ahead and I say no. She threatens to rear if in the same scenario and bitted. She HAS run with a bit and her nose very high in the air. Spooks are lessened, she is happy to shove her head in the bitless and we have a very good time together.

You could search on "bitless", you seem to be new here, so wouldn't realise that we probably get a bitless bridle thread about once a week. Do a search, loads of helpful info.
