Bits: Do copies work as well as the original??

My Mum is looking at trying a Myler snaffle for her hunter but, in the process of looking, has noticed that Eldonian do one that is remarkably similar (read virtually identical!)

Is it really worth paying £60 for the Myler instead of £20 for the Eldonian??

Please don't think my Mum is being a cheapskate, she will happily fork out for the Myler! I just thought her inquiry would create an interesting debate

Dunno, in general I think the imitations can do, for example I use an imitation pessoa instead of the real thing: cost about 4x less I think. However I didn't buy a friend's kind offer of a set of GHDs at £50 recently: they retail at £130+ so it was either off the back of a waggon or fake, and I don't fancy a fake electric and very hot thing near my head and on my hair!

A happy medium could be finding it on ebay? F's very expensive bit (I think £100 + new) cost £20 second hand off ebay, and as they don't tend to wear and are easily cleaned it was as good as new

Eldonian has been around for a long long time. Probably longer than Myler. Certainly worth a try and sell it on if not happy.
