Bits that are between a snaffle but not a gag/pelham?

Hey so i'm currently trying my boy in a loose ring vulcanite straight bar, (only straight bar I could find at the yard, couldn't find any rubber ones!) I'm thinking of getting a sprenger duo and/or nathe for flatwork, as the vulcanite one is way too thick for his mouth, but I just wanted to see how he went in a bit without any joints, and he seems to really like it over, single joints, lozenges and french links, infact he would occasionally lean/fight with those more than the straight bar, go figure? so I'm thinking this type of mouthpiece could be it. I was wondering though, if he was to start leaning, would he be able to lean easier on a vulcanite hard straight bar, or a flexible, rubber/plastic like the sprenger duo, or would it not make a difference?
He can actually be a very strong, but i'm trying to go backwards and see if milder bits actually work better for him instead of stronger ones. But atm I do need a slightly stronger bit for jumping, as I tried a few fences in the vulcanite one, and he got very excited and we did lack a bit of control, bless him :D is there a bit that's between a snaffle, but not quite reaching gag/pelham territory? I have tried him in a dutch gag previously, but he just fought with it, or would really curl his neck and then yaw down (although this was a single jointed metal one, so maybe that was the problem?) have also tried a vulcanite pelham, he wasn't as bad in that as the gag, but I still feel they may be a little too strong for him. I was thinking a kimblewick, but i read that some people think they can be even stronger than a pelham? I haven't tried a 3 ring gag before, are they milder than a dutch gag? Also how strong is a wilkie snaffle? Is it a little bit stronger than an ordinary snaffle?
So if anyone knows of some bits that's between a snaffle, but not a gag/pelham, and without changing the mouthpiece would be greatly appreciated. :)
Sorry this is so longggg

Usually a 3 ring gag is the same as a dutch gag. Unless you mean a 3 ring like a universal which is slightly milder than a dutch gag (though if you put a dutch gag on the 1st ring it is basically the same).

Essentially the 'strength' when taking the mouthpiece out of the equation comes from the leverage so the further away from the bit the reins are the stronger it is. A wilkie for example has some leverage but not as much as a dutch gag as the leverage is shorter.

A Wlikie could suit well, we used one on a keen event horse for XC and it gave just enough control when required without causing him to drop the bridle, in a snaffle he just ran through the half halts.,

I used a Wilkie when I started to XC Jay Man. It gave a touch more than his dressage Sprenger without over powering him and making him drop the bit. It was so slight though that after a while we just did the lot in his dressage tack. So, successful for us.
