Which bits do you use for which disciplines, and why do you use that particular bit?

I only hack out, so a bitless bridle for both of mine when on my own , but for doing pleasure rides I use a Myler comfort loose ring snaffle

Why? because they are good boys and don't need anything else!, I like Mylers bits, they both go very nicely in them

NS baucher in the school, shes fairly good in the school

NS pelham for jumping/fast work, as she runs through the snaffle but has respect & brakes in the pelham

Double bridle for some flatwork to add a little more refinement.

A loose ring french link snaffle for everything! I use a loose ring to stop him leaning on me, and the french link encourages him to accept the contact.

This, for everything, because she prefers it, like most of my other horses she really isn't happy with a snaffle at all.

A myler- just because my horse seemed unhappy in everything i tried until i borrowed a friends Myler and he was obviously much more comfortable so i bought one and we are still in it!

Loose ring jointed snaffle for everything, I just change his nose band for jumping and cross country

pelham for showing simply to look correct
