ive got a youngster who is quite forward going, but her mouth is like butter. as soon as i put any pressure on it, it seems to cut or be sore. When i bought her she was being ridden in a sweet iron loose ring snaffle but i changed her to a straight bar rubber snaffle and she went amazingly in that!
I took her SJ-ing and had absolutely no control, so bought a jointed rubber loose ring snaffle which again worked well and no sores, but still had control issues. Have tried a hanging cheek which she loves, and the control is there, but as soon as i ask her to come back to me, it cuts her mouth.
I was thinking something like a vulcanite pelham so that when i need the control, i only have to use little pressure for her to listen to me, thus reducing the pressure on her mouth in the long term? i really didnt want to get out of snaffles as generally speaking shes not too strong, just hacking in company and jumping...
any ideas?
