I'm looking for a bit that will encourage my mare to not hold onto the bit all the time (She will even stand and hold the bit once I've leapt off...) We're doing lots of work on a longish rein to encourage her to balance herself and let go, but it's on very rare occasions she will relax her jaw and let go.
I was thinking along the lines of the Sprenger range? Something that will encourage the have a little play etc so she'll then clock on it isnt her job to hold onto the bit for me.
Money really isn't an object, but I'd rather it be a dressage legal bit. Also has to be a french link as she doesn't like jointed bits...and pref something that wont be putting poll pressure on her...as she's also not overly keen on that either(I think she's possibly the most overly sensitive horse going!)

Any advice would be fabbles =]

You could have a look at the Neue Schule range - www.neueschulebits.com. I've had a few of theirs and they've been really good, very similar to the Sprenger/KK but much cheaper! You can ring them up too for advice, and you can hire them out before you buy on www.shop4bits.com. Maybe a tranz lozenge loose ring snaffle?

hope that helps.

I've spent ages looking for a bit my horse will go well in - eventually I found he likes a waterford best... but for schooling I use a NS Demi Anky - because oddly he will lean more on a tranz lozenge bit and get very overbent...

You could try a couple of things first - but I need to the waterford as my boy is so strong when jumping and hacking - you might not need that...

Sorry - just read last bit - makes no sense
