Ive got my 6 year old ex racer in a 'magic bit' as its what she was ridden in when I bought her, but she was left in a field with no shoes on and little work done so she was quite unfit.
Shes been back in work for nearly 2 months, and the fitter shes getting, the schoolings improving but shes getting alot stronger and Id like abit more control.
The only problem is even though she is 15.1 she has a tiny 4.5 inch mouth!!
Any reccomendations of what I could put her in?
My instructor has said to maybe think about something towards a gag to jump her in but I really dont want to use something that harsh when I know she can go well in a snaffle, but showjumping was what I bought her for and I'd like to see her go well in a snaffle without having to get something harsher as Im not one for changing bits!

I have two ex-racers - both have very soft, sensitive mouths though - they are both ridden in loose ring french links with cavesson nosebands......I've also had the old boy in a straight bar happy mouth loose ring which he was fine in too.....

When you say she is getting strong is she taking hold of the bit and therefore evading it? You could try a waterford snaffle. She won't be able to get hold of it because the links keep moving. People think it is a harsh bit but any bit is harsh in the wrong hands!
