Hi everyone!

wondered if anyone has any suggestions for me?

My horse is very strong but has a sensitive mouth and dislikes poll pressue and nutcracker type bits.

I am finding her very difficult at the moment - she keeps tossing her head and pulling me out of my seat. She's had teeth/back/saddle etc all checked and all ok, I think it's just a schooling issue tbh.

Any ideas how I can get round this? At the moment having some difficulty getting any schooling done cos she's flinging me around so much!!

I've been trying to go back to basics and just using a french link snaffle at the moment but it's really no use - I might as well have a marshallow in there!

i agree, ride my horse who has always been a bit naughty with the bogging off thing in both. kimblewick when serious hackamore to let him relax. he enjoys having a break

It sounds as though she is very uncomfortable atm. Have you considered a PeeWee bit? Several people on here swear by them for 'difficult to bit' horses. If you search the forum, you will find several posts. They are particularly good for horses with thick tongues/low palates/fleshy mouths. They have a thin mullen mouthpiece, which a lot of horses find more comfortable than conventional bits. You can hire them from a bit bank, which is good as they are quite expensive.

Hi,

thanks for the suggestions. I'll read up a wee bit more about the ones you've mentioned.
Never used a hackamore before, how exactly do they work? Is it not all to do with poll pressure (no idea - am clueless!) and would it be advisable for me to try this when I've never done it before. Don't want to use it incorrectly....
