I think I need to reconsider my mares bitting for faster work (XC, hacking in company, galloping etc) but have no idea what??
She evades when I pull her up (not really yanking at her mouth...just fighting a bit) throwing her head up and tilting it like a loon.
She's presently in a french link hanging cheek, has one the same thing in a Waterford hanging cheek.
Any advice welcomed

have you thought of going for something gentler such as happy mouth but a dutch gag or similar, you've got an easier mouth peice with the poll action then, works for me!

I used a hanging cheek french link on my old TB for dressage but swapped to a kimblewick (without port) for cross country. Worked a treat as he didn't like the action of gags - they tended to make him evade more.
