Hi all,

I'd really like to make an informed decision when bitting my horse, does anyone know a professional who'd assess the horse and help choose the bit? We're at Patchetts, Watford.

Thanks everyone!

If you find one please let me know! I will be at Model farm, near patchetts soon and current horse seems uncomfortable with his bit and constantly has his mouth open but cant find a bit to suit (teeth, back, tack all checked reguarly)!

Grant Chanter, Equine Dentist, is also a bit specialist. His number is 07794658421. He comes to my yard for most of us once or twice a year (Harts) so should be fine for you guys. Does your normal dentist do bitting?

(Don't tell her I said so, [she's a busy girl!] but Liz who works in Patchetts shop, is amazing at finding the right bit or piece of tack. If she can't help, she can probably tell you someone who can)

If you're there next Friday morning, half my yard are doing clear round-look out for me! I'm not riding cos I've totally neglected my lad this year due to new puppies :o but he's winning his class at Patchetts in my sig!

Thank you ever so much, cinnamontoast! Will try and catch you on Friday morning :) shame on you for neglecting such a gorgeous horsey :D will try Mr Chanter!

Thanks *blushes*. I've been a disgraceful owner this year but was thrilled he won so I was able to tell your charming car park attendant my horse was not, in fact, a donkey!

Grant Chanter is ex army, his wife is a physio and did my horses back and she was telling me her husband was a dentist

Ages ago at a riding school I was at someone from neue schule came to give a talk about bitting and mouth conformation and I got the impression she would have looked at horses mouths too. Of course that's angled towards one brand.
Ps hope to be at patchetts too for clear round and the first class if he's going well.

My saddler has just been on a bitting course as quite a few of her clients were asking about bits when they were asking about saddles.

I am not sure if she is going to just do it as an add on for her saddle clients or is looking to expand her business. She does equine massage as well as people kept asking her about that too when having their saddles checked!

She is on holiday at the moment but when she comes back I will ask her as she is also a livery on our yard.

Popping across? Not far to come for you! See my avatar, say hi if you see the big ginger one!

Cinammontoast Yes it's so close that I don't bother with the Lorry, it's quicker to hack.
I'll be on a big bright bay tb and wearing a blue grey tweed and we'll both be a bit scruffy so easy to pick out from all the blingy showjumper types.
Eva say hello too if you're around,

It was so busy today I couldn't spot anyone.

We had a good day though, clear in the clear round and double clear in the novice which was his first ever actual class.

that's a great result :)
I have tried to find you girls but have abandoned my hopes after asking some people if they were Christina which they were not - very embarassing :) we should agree on a special signal next time... some winking... a greeting dance... a special form of clothing... HHOers must be able to recognize each other :)
