my dads horsie gets very strong in company and cannot be held he also gets very strong whilst being schooled
he is 3/4 ID 1/4 TB 16.2 so he is quite chunky and is strong.
I rode him for the third time today and i changed his bit from a french link snaffle to a cherry roller.
I felt he was still just grabbing hold of me in canter and pulling athough i did managed to keep him in trot whilst approaching jumps.

A friend of mine has leant me
cherry roller
dutch gag
pelham
and a french link snaffle (but the link is HUGE)

i was thinking of trying the dutch gag next
Has any got any suggestions as for other bits to try or wether should try the dutch gag or pelham next??

any help would be appreciated.

thanks

I'd attempt dutch gag first, but a lot of horses find it difficult to bend in a dutch gag so you may find that! I manage mine in dutch gag jumping though, he gets strong jumping and is ID x TB (I'd estimate 3/4 ID 1/4 TB).
