I have a newly broken (8 weeks ish..) four year old WB x ID/TB mare, whilst she is going okay she will keep flipping her tongue over the bit. I started her off with and Eggbutt snaffle with a lozenge, and have since tried a mullen mouth, a Myler comfort snaffle and today a straight rubber snaffle (which she hated, couldn't get tongue over so opened her mouth instead) in the hope that the lack of joint would stop it and a regular cavesson noseband. She has a 5-5.25 mouth size and appears to have a slim tongue and narrow lower jaw. I am struggling to get her to soften and accept anything and am worried that I will cause her to be strong if I can't get her sorted soon. She seems to fiddle with her tongue and set her lower jaw to evade me. She is however losing her corner teeth and has had wolf teeth removed prior to my purchase (July) so this may be having some bearing? Any ideas welcomed please.
