Im thinking of changing my horses bit.

she is currently in a copper roller d ring snaffle which is mild.

however she can nap, put her head down, snatch the reins, spin etc, so I want something with a bit more control really, especially when Im trying to point her in the right direction.
She also opens her mouth when she is playing up and tries to put her tongue over the bit, maybe a drop noseband would help?

she likes to play with her bit hence the copper roller so i want something that will still keep her settled like that does.

she isnt strong in the mouth but is extremely stubborn, huge neck etc, she isnt the type to take off, more likely to go back or up, but a few people have said try a different bit maybe?

any recommendations would be appreciated.

(by the way we are working on her behaviour, she has some issues)

I always recommend mylers because I have had such great experiences with them, otherwise maybe a double jointed dutch gag with two reins? Then when she is behaving you can just use the top rein.

i would say stick a loose ring french link with sweet iron mouth pieces in her mouth, stick a nose band and flash on her to stop with the mouth opening and getting the tongue over, and ride it forward ignoreing the head shaking, in a firm bitkind contact,

Yes i ought to mention she needs a gentle contact, if someone rides her and they are heavy handed or pull on her mouth, well she flips her lid!

she wouldnt take off so its not really the strength, more the control really.

she is a real cow in a flash, just spends the whole time trying to rub it off on her leg, so its a constant battle, especially when she starts her sideways crab walking LOL, i thought maybea drop noseband would give me that bit more control without her feeling like her mouth is taped shut.

she is so stubborn, spent 15 mins standing still on the road lastnight as she wouldnt move!
