Bitting question

My instructor has switched bits on his horse and said it might be worth changing Tia's to see if she goes better in something else. I originally rode in a hanging cheek snaffle then switched to a loose ring snaffle for about 4 months as she was leaning too much on the hanging cheek. Then strangely the loose ring began to rub on her so I switched back to the hanging cheek. I dont really want a stronger bit as we are working on making her light in the contact as she is trying her hardest to lean whenever I try to take up a decent contact after working long and low.

What other bit would you suggest I try? I'm thinking of another snaffle but not sure which.

I would have thought the hanging snaffle to be stronger than a loose ring snaffle - with the poll pressure - is it worth getting a better fitting loose ring? If it's rubbed then it's probably too small - or sometimes they get sharp bits on them and you have to file them off. I regularly visit a yard of 50 and they all have loose ring snaffles and none of them have any rubs.
might just solve the problem rather than looking for a different bit - did the loose ring work in the first place?

Sorry no help what so ever

Hanging cheeks can make leaning worse as they encourage head lowering due to very slight poll action.

I would recommend a waterford for leaners or the NS trans lozenge universal. A bit is only as strong as the hands using them remember.
