My highland pony is currently ridden in a plain jointed snaffle. Took her to our first show together today and she was impeccably behaved. But very strong in the ring and on the hack there and back.
Does anyone have any suggestion on a bit to use for her.
Native owners input most welcome! You know what little tanks they can be!
:)

My fell goes well in a stainless steel mullen mouth pelham, I think it is mostly the mouthpiece shape that suits, but she can be strong in a mullen mouth snaffle. It can be frustrating because she can be incredibly light and responsive in the mildest of bits, but when she decides to tank it's a different matter!

Have had great success with simple mullen mouthed pelhams (hinged or floating cheek) - pop the curbchain through the bit rings & not just hooked behind in the chin groove - its softer & wont come into action nearly so soon.
Most of my heavier natives were shown in these to top level & went v well in them - they like simple bits on their mouths. Just dont get hold of the curb rein too much & remember to use seat & legs to keep your pony light in front.

Worth a try
