My mare has a very soft mouth and so far we have her in a loose ring happy mouth or a fulmer happy mouth (both double jointed with peanut). she has been fine in thsi so far and we are very happy with it for dressage and sjing but having been xc at firle "properly" and really opened up she has become a tad strong-she doesnt stick her head down or race off-she is just a bit too forward thinking coming into combinations, and her frame tends to elongate and i am finding it more difficult to collect her up into a more bouncy canter (she is not dangerous!)

so we have decided to put her in the same happy mouth mouth pieced just with the two ring version of the three ring continental gag-does this seem a good idea for now and what would any of u advise???

thankyou in advance

Ice had a soft mouth but could bowl on a bit XC. Anything too strong and he would stop! Our compromise was a happy mouth pelham with roundings - still felt as though he was taking me to a fence - but not towing me. Worth a try?

i thought poss. using this 2 ring with roundings on the snaffle ring and one below (only two i can put it on) just because then she doesnt have a huge amount of poll pressure suddenly when previously she has never had any-is this a sensible idea?? i dont want two reins especially with a youngster xc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*gasp* That's what I've started jumping PF in (except it's a straight bar) as she gets very, very keen at shows and it keeps 'arguments' to a minimum! she goes really well in it. She's an odd horse and doesn't get on with french links like other horses do.
