Probably due to them getting used to it as every rocket in town used to explode on eye level with their old stables which was at the top of a steep hill.
My lot ignore them. They are so used to big loud things they just don't bother looking anymore. (we often get 'Bomber' type planes, jets, helicopters etc.) all low flying . Infact, i can usually see pilots
yeah, we had some by us last night. in a village in the middle of nowhere with every other household owning horses. think they should be banned from private use. it's much safer to go to an organised display.
on the plus side, my new 4 yr old didn't seem all that fussed by them
With the A&E depts full each year from firework injuries, I think it's time to ban them, if your that desperate to see one, go to an organised display, probably be cheaper and less crap going into the environment which the powers that be keep harping on about.
I am dreading it!!
I wouldn't mind the fireworks if they didn't land in my ponies field or my garden. Going to check on the ponies is like taking my life into my hands....

My three enjoy watching them too, I leave them out in their field.
They are quite spook proof as we have a low flying Hercules, fighter jets, the air ambulance, and hot air balloons flying low overhead.

I wish they would get banned. I hate them. One of my neighbours has a luxury hotel/wedding venue and the fireworks go on for days and nights. Makes me so nervous. My mare OTOH gives every appearence of enjoying standing watching them. She even makes a rare excursion into the rest of her field from her field shelter, with which she is usually obsessed with staying in.
Fireworks are far more used nowadays at birthday parties etc than when I was young. Diwali (Festival of Light) falls close to Guy Fawkes night so we see & hear more than used to be the case. I have been told that isolated fireworks are used as a signal by drugs dealers. I agree that they should be restricted to organised events.
