Early this morning we heard the stallion making very amorous noises so went out to see what was going on.
The small herd of 8 horses mostly mares including several of his daughters had managed to slide open the huge barn doors after climbing up the muckheap to get near to the stabled horses Chocolate and William.
There was the most unbelievable mess.
They had got into the feed area, and eaten the entire contents of a bin of level grow (over £11 a bag..

)
A whole bin of Topspec balancer...
A whole bin of coarse mix.
Chewed into two bags of alfa A and taken bites out of three haylage bales..
Removed the lid from a tub of treats and scoffed the lot..
Knocked over the workmens' tea/coffee and eaten their biscuits.
spread an opened bale of haylage throughout the mess.
They ate a whole bucket of speedi beet but couldn't get in that bin as I always hook the closers over the lids..
They had peed all over the floor where the stallion was stabled, crapped just about everywhere feasible (a whole huge wheelbarrow full) and acted like kids in a sweet shop..
It took me two and a half hours to clean up the mess, disinfect the floor where the mares had wee'd and put all the bins/feedbowls back.
Oh yes, they toured all the empty stables too, just went in and out of them all for a nose..
It's immaculate again but guess who will have an electric fence round the muckheap from now on...

Just reminds me of the time when my twin boys (the human variety!!) were about 3 and somehow managed to sneak out of their room early in the morning.

They went downstairs, ransacked the desk tidy for pens, pencils etc. Coloured in the computer, TV, desk and various other things; covered every flat surface available in prittstick

. Then coloured themselves in with biro and green and yellow highlighter (one entirely coloured in both feet). They then came back upstairs and I was alerted to their mischief when they knocked something over in the bathroom and I walked in to find them both covered in shaving foam and decorating the basin with toothpaste.

I can laugh now

I'm very sorry but I did titter at your ponies adventure!
I've had a pretty rubbish day with two flat tyres on my trailer and two eliminations XC so that has put a wee smile on my face

That is so funny! Sorry but can you imagine their naughty faces knowing they will be in trouble! Bet they are quite full up now especially finishing off on the workmans' biscuits!

ROFL!! Sorry!
Reminds me of about 10yrs ago we had a pot bellied pig Gerty on the yard & she managed to break into the feedroom & eat a whole sack of a liveries bluechip! Whoops! Mind you her coat/skin shone for a long time after that! Maybe you will see evidence later of who had all the top spec!
Naughty ponies LOL!

Oh God that's terrible!

No, actually, it's the best laugh I've had all day - apologies!

Thanks for sharing. Are you beginning to see the funny side yet? Just a teeny bit?

I was going to add serve them right if they get tummy ache.......but perhaps not

I keep adding up how much money they gobbled in feed and am peeved they ate all the Level Grow, it has to be ordered in specially and tonight I also discovered they had trashed a bottle of incredibly expensive mane and tail stuff which cost £38 off the internet.. only a third left, the rest is on the floor under the table.
Now why would a horse attack that?
I did bring one in earlier as he looked colicky, but it seems to have passed now.
He is however slightly lame behind so whether he's been kicked or whether he's kicked at the stallion's door I don't know. It is one of those wait a couple of days to see what shows up injuries.
I can see the funny side re the thought of them all getting up to as much mischief as possible, but it was hard to see it when I was sweeping the entire yard and picking up numerous dollops.. To make matters worse we have over 50 jackdaws trying to build nests in there on the beams, and they had dropped hundreds of twigs mixed in with the mess.
Poor old Chocloate was in a white foam under his rug, to have so many woman at his door in season and be unable to get at them.....

We have tied the door now until the fence goes up, I should have realised they would be clever enough to open it, the old stallion used to spend hours with his nose pushing it in the hope it would move, then he would leg it to the nearest field of mares and cause havoc..
Oh the joys of owning horses.....

My lot did the same to me last year, they broke the gate into the indoor school, then the gate onto the yard, ate 3/4 bag balancer, two bags of nuts and bit holes in every bale (large) of haylage. on top of that they picked up rugs and threw them on the floor to be pooped and peed on, broke two brooms and pulled every lotion and potion off shelves, some of which they then stood on so the contents went everywhere. It was carnage, you have my sympathy

God HH what a mess that sounds! Poor Chocolate - bless him! Hope there are no lasting side effects on the Houdini horses.
