Am I being unfair to say that there are as many timewaster customers as there are dodgy dealers??

Dealers on here do tend to get a bit of a pounding when it comes to selling horses unfairly ect...Whilst I do agree that some dealers are awful people, I would like to have a little rant about some people that come to look ate horses....

We have for sale a gorgeous homebred jet black 5 year old gelding by Eddison ( Jasper / Ramiro Z ) out of an Akzent 2 mare... He has done a bit of everything, been to shows jumping double clears british novice and discovery. Moves beautifully and has the temprement to die for... So .. We get someone call up and ask to see him, make an appointment, they come, we ride / jump him, they then get on and have a sit on him, ttheir useless instructor then gets on and rides and jumps him too. Then they want to see mum and dad, brothers and sisters. Spend an hour chatting with him - cuddling him in stable. They loved him, they then want to come and try again, which is fine... This time to hack him, so they hach him up the road, with one of ours, then we take other horse home whilst they wait to bring him home alone, trot past gate to yard ( none of this phases poor boy ) then back home. Then they want to see him x country, so arrange to come for a 3rd time to see him... So we take him in the lorry 10 miles away to a x country course for them to see, again they ride him and jump him around the course ( Even though they look as if they had never seen a log before let alone jump one - again this does not phase poor little man even though the rider is hung round his neck half of the time in fear of the size of the 2 foot log ) Get back home, again they spend a while loving him and playing in the stable etc. They then call that evening and say that they absolutely love him and could not fault him in any way, that he would be perfect for him but they unfortunatley did not have the full amount...He is advertised for £12,500 ono - they offered £8000 as that was all they had!!! Why the bloody hell did they come to look at a horse £4,500 over what they had to spend. We will always do everything we can to provide our customers with the best possible trials that we can give, but that just takes the biscuit!! Maybe coming to see him once then mentioning it would be excusable, but 3 times, one of which we had to take him out has made us slightly pi**ed off...

Such a pain.

Sorry .....Rant over

Hey stop moaning, are you after my job on here, think lovely positive thoughts like I am told to, the fluffies on here will wet their pants and get you struck off

Thats a bit much isnt it - i am all out for a haggle... and would have tried you with an "would you take" - but after 3 times of trying him and to ask you to drop by that much - and then walk away..... does make you wonder if they had the readies for him anyway.

Such a shame to waste your time but be thankful they did not hurt the horse.

Better look next time, he sounds fab and if i was looking i think i would be snapping him up !

Wow, he sounds fantastic and worth every penny! I had some numptees come and try a horse I was selling for a friend, the price was fairly low as she was an ex hurdler and was not an easy ride. I had the most chavvy people on the planet come and try her and when the guy got on (with his trainers and baseball cap) he dug his heels in straight away and she took off at the speed of light! He didn't look like he'd ever been on a horse before and couldn't even hold the reins correctly. They said they had ridden for 20 and 25 years each..... Thank goodness she was in a roundpen and I was able to stand in front of her and grab the reins as she went past. Anyway, despite this they said they wanted to buy her and I said to come back and let the wife ride too (she said she didn't have the right shoes on...) to make sure she could ride. I had such an awful time over the next couple of days as it wasn't my horse and I couldn't just not sell her. Anyway, teh bloke rang up and told me his wife fell off and broke her hip the next day when they went to try something else and I hesitate to say that I took a huge sigh of relief...

Your people obviously had some time on their hands and wanted to go ride a really lovely horse a couple of days, what did you say when they offered you the pile of peanuts??

Exactly the same happened to me, literally to the letter!!!!!! I was selling a Pre Novice eventer for £7000 (worth every penny, fab horse). Somebody come to visit her twice at home, then we took her xc schooling, and finally they came to watch her at a competition. Then they said they couldn't afford £7k, but only had £3.5K, would that be ok, because they really loved the horse! I said a very quick no!!!!!!!!!

Are you sure they are not just saying that in the hope you will drop the price a lot. ball is in your court to haggle the price really

It's just a joke - I thought i was gonna get a hammering for saying that buyers were timewasters etc ...

He will find a nice home soon i'm sure - he will only be allowed to go to the very best of people...

We did indeed tell the people very politely that the amount of money that they had to spend would definately not buy them this horse.

The same little horse had a blind person try him last week - she was totally blind almost, only being able to see between light and dark. She did ride exceptionally well, almost crashed into her husband filming her whilst cantering down the diagonal to do a change and he just quite politely cantered around the man, did a flying change and carried on. He is a true saint!! They didn;t have him as they wanted something a little more advanced in dressage, which was a shame as she was a really nice lady and rode soooo well!

I'm sure this is someones way of telling us that he should be one that stays * wishing this was the case - too many horses, not enough money * : (

Hell no! what they did to you was damned rude!! when I got my boy I made sure I gt an appointment and stuck to the time (a big thing for me cuz I rn on my own clock!!) and then made it clear that I wanted to see him a second time and let her know who I was bringing!

on the other hand my dealer told me some fibs about my boy but I hoping he'll come right in the end. The point was I told her excatly what I wanted to spend and then said I couldn't look at anything above that, I also said what I wanted to do each time and she was brilliant about it (cept the fibs lol!) I put a deposit down the second time I saw him and she actually thanked me cuz she'd been messed about before!

people are just rude and think that they can do anything after 10 lessons!! I've been riding now again properly for 5 years and I still class myself as a novice. People need to be realistic about prices too! I'd have maybe asked if you'd take 12k but never 8k that's just rude!
