I rent two acres for my broodmare and for the last 3 years my field which is old lay and should be producing super haylage is full of bloody ragwort.
Every spring I pull and poison and every summer while the mare is at stud I pull and poison. Meanwhile next doors' 10 acres is wall to wall ragwort, bracken, gorse and docks.
The woman who owns the land moved out when she married a farmer and she will neither sell the land nor rent it responsibly.
She rented to an idiot who neglected his horses until the RSPCA and the BHS got involved. They rolled up slapped him on the wrist for not providing water yet neither of these dunces thought it right to mention that the the shire was standing belly deep in ragwort and the 12 hand pony was swallowed up in the stuff.
This woman was at PC camp last week mouthing off to my YO about how brilliant her 3yo daughter is at riding though not presumably ragwort recognition. As she is married to a farmer she has the wherewithall to poison off, plough and reseed but why should she she doesn't graze it any more.
FUMING.
