Psyched myself up to move up a class at the local evening SJ tonight, got all ready to the point of loading, a mad wind had whipped up then someone pointed out to me that we are in for a massived storm and 80mph winds tonight

Wind is horrid and the gusts are expected to last until about 11pm.

It's horrid, I didn't do the horses tonight but had to walk the dog when I got home....needless to say we weren't out for long. Forecast isn't set to improve over the next few days either

The wind started up just after I got on my horse. I was riding with two other people and people are still a bit scared of riding with me as most saw my horse bolt and plunge through the air every time I got on her before she went to re-hab, although she's mostly good now. Anyway the wind picked up as I was passing someone else and a chair took off and flew across the yard so, bless her, my horse jumped in the air straight towards the other horse. She was nowhere near it and didn't run off or anything but my two companions quickly decided to call it a day.

I stayed on detemined not to be defeated by the weather but it was getting more and more difficult to get my horse anywhere near the arena fence. I also have a very lightweight ventilated endurance hat that i use for everyday and the wind kept going in through the vents lifting the hat off my bl**dy head! The only thing keeping it on were the straps so I thought I might be pushing my luck and chucked it on a good note. Chuffed to bits with my mare though for not getting too upset and losing the plot, even when alone faced with gale force winds and random things flying about on the yard!

That was very good behaviour, can't exactly expect the best behaviour when chairs are flying round in the wind!

I stupidly took my 3yo Shire x TB's rug off in the field (to add a vest) and it took me about 15 mins to get it back on her...:(
She stood like a rock, bless her, although loose, whilst it made whipcrack sounds and kept flying back off....I had to use both hands to hold it on her...then of course, couldn't do up the straps

I'm so glad my horses are so helpful....otherwise I'd still be there...

didn't ride tonight as the wind was wicked here. Came home just after 8pm and the temperature dropped to -0.5 and we had a massive hailstorm, really really not nice weather at all

Had it here too, its just calmed down, you can only see half way up the window, the rest looks like its buried in snow..lol..poor neds!

We had three days of heavy snow so couldn't ride, then massive thaw causing flooding. Then temperature dropped to minus 4 and the surfaces were lethal and exceedingly slippery. Now we've had 80 mph winds the last two days and still no riding! And I've got my first main comp of the year on Sunday and a horse who is going to be as nutty as a fruitcake when I eventually get to sit on him. Help!

I just thank god we have an indoor school so have still managed to ride 6 days a week - otherwise madam would be unmanagable! Fencing has all been trashed in the field yesterday, so no turn out either for now.
