So after finally getting hold of the girl who was going to buy my mare yesterday and her booking and paying for transporter to collect her on Friday, I got a text at teatime saying that she'd changed her mind and wasn't buying her after all.

Explain to me why, you would leave a deposit, pay for a vetting, pay for a transporter (none of which is refundable) and then decide you weren't going ahead??

I know she definitely booked and paid for the transporter as I phoned them to confirm the details.

No accounting for some people, had similar 5 years ago when I nearly sold his lordship, some people are weird, anyway thank goodness I kept him, I would have missed out on one AMAZING pony and all that we have done together

Wouldn't be so bad but she lived 150 miles away so it was a major effort for her to go to for no reason!

Annoyingly I put a few folk off but still have their numbers so will phone them and re-advertise her.

On the upside, at least she passed the vet no problem

welcome to the world of trying to sell horses!! keep deposit and re advertise. at least you know it passed a 5stage vetting. cash on the table is the way to go!!

if you take a deposit make sure its big enough to hurt if they back track ie £500 or more, on basis of passing vet. and make deposit cash. good luck

Timewasters i feel your pain!! Ive been trying to sell a 2yo filly for a friend calls so far....
1) We want her as a family pony....
2) We want her for our 11yo daughter who is just learning to ride....
Do people not read adverts she is 2!! she is not broken/rideable yet!!

What a waste of time!!!

Would she allow you access to the vetting certificate as a bit of an apology for wasting your time? It would help any other potential buyer to see it and speed things up a bit.
