I always used to do dressage ( unaff ) in my white jods and black jacket and i always looked ill becuase im very blonde and pale. I have recently been showing and much prefur comfort wise wearing a shirt and tie.

I have dressage this weekend so-Do i go im my black and white and just put up with the shock which i hate with a passion or shall i go in my green tweed jacket and wear my white shirt, red tie and cream jods? I know b/w is the most common but interested on others views.

I will post below a picture of me in each and would like honest opinions as im edging more towards the tweed but should i wear a stock with it really of does anyone else wear a tie?

It would be helpful if people would post a picture of them in ther dressage gear in either b/w or tweeds.

this is us in the b/w

I am a bit of a tweed fan, although i always where a stock. I think for unaff dr really go with whatever you feel happiest in...which sounds like tweed!!

I think shirt and tie is actually more correct for tweed (i've noticed pippa funnell wears a ties with tweed out eventing) but most people do were stocks. You look very smart in both!!

I personally think you look better in tweed for dressage. However I would possibly lose the white shirt and get a cream one, which would also look nice with your red tie.

I personally prefer to wear a stock rather than a tie and have a blue checked one, which brings out the blue collar of my tweed. I haven't got a photo though, however I am doing stressage this weekend, so will get someone to take a snap.

He's a couple from our annual show, shirt & tie as doing WH.

I would say tweed!! I may be a bit old fashioned but I was always told that a rider should wear tweed until they get to elementary level?!

Id say for unaffiliated it doesnt really matter as long as you look smart and feel comfortable, atm I wear my navy tweed jacket for dressage and I wear with that a navy stock with white spots, probably not the best colour but when Im doing showing and dressage on the same day its just easier

I've recently had to wear my tweed as my black jacket has a button missng - oops (anyone now where I can get John Whitaker buttons from???) which looks like....

Well it would but work seems to have just (as it today) blocked photobucket

But I personnally prefer black jackets etc. I love my stock - but I think the most important thing is to wear what you are most comfortable in - and if thats your tweed - wear it

Navy is kinder than black, I wear navy with a cream stock.

Cream is also kinder than white, why not dye your white shirt by putting it in the wash with a few of Tescos/ASDAs etc cheapest of the cheap yellow dusters.

Thanks for your opinions everyone.

I feel more comfy in the tweed so im going to wear that.

I have seen lots of people in tweeds in aff dressage and i really like the look of it so will stick with that for now.

I was just worried a tie wouldnt be allowed and id have to wear a stock- argh cant stand anything high up around my neck it drives me INSANE.

Hellspells - just ring the JW company up and say you have lost the buttons - they do come off rather too easily imo! They sent me some free ones which I have sewn on this time, don't know if they are now charging but worth a call.
