Watched black beauty today cause i was bored. Haven't seen it for ages. Still makes me cry, even though i'v seen it 100s of times.
When's the last time anyones watched it? does it still make you weep? or mabe it's just me (can't help it lol) :p

I've never watched the film although just the music to the series has me covered in goosebumps and all teary eyed. I am quite ridiculous like that though, there was a lenor advert with lambs walking across a meadow which did exactly the same thing to me!

The book however has been read many a time and all the pages are dog eared other than the 'poor ginger' chapter which I really just cannot read any more.

re-reading black beauty again recently genuinely made me think that maybe horses do actually talk to each other, understand what we say and have feelings about us... i like to think they do anyway :o

Poor Ginger!!:( that the saddest part in the film, dosen't just bring a tear to your eye,it makesyou proper cry, haha.

Proper cry? Yes, that would just about sum it up. I do proper cry, snotty nose/red eyes the works. Not nice, I'm not in the league of that woman in ghost (what the heck is her name) who can cry and look utterly gorgeous at the same time.

Aaagh, what is her name? It's driving me insane now.

I like to think that of all animals, surely the cant all be numb and unfeeling. I think all animals know and feel alot more than humans give them credit for. Scientists and researchers can do as much tests as they like, but i don't believe we can truly understand the minds of other beings.

Love the book and thefilm BUT the film Pharlap gets me every time. Film about the famous Australian racehorse in the 20s. Very tear jerking particularly as it was true.....

Exactly the same!

Hubby showed me the DVD box of Watership Down in HMV once and I started weeping in the middle of the shop!

The BB film is worth a watch though, it's accurate to the book.

Agree.

The noise he makes at the end! A horse on our yard snores and makes that same noise and it freaks me out!

Especially the bit at the end where the little rabbit lies down by his mate and drifts off to the otherside. :( so sad.

Got the theme tune from the television series as my ring tone and just bought the "new" version from tescos again for £3 last night after I leant my horsey DVD collection to a friend for her daughter and never got it back. I can get to the bit with Ginger on the cart and then I start. OH thinks I'm a nutter because I can watch any amount of awful stuff with people in it, but Black Beauty does it every time.

Someone quoted black beauty on here about a week ago and so I bought it online same day. I sat and watched it Friday when it arrived and I cried pretty much the whole way through. I agree it certainly makes you wonder what they think of you, I hope it's only good! :)

Have to say I do this everytime I watch the film, have it in a couple of different versions like the one with scean bean in,brought the book a while ago as had lost my copy, have not got round to reading it yet,War Horse was bad enough. My girl does look quite alot like Black Beauty and I think that makes it even worse lol :)
