My pony has been of work and stabled because of laminitis, He has just started to recover and is doing well, however yesterday when i was picking out his feet i noticed his soles were a little black, and especialy black on his front right. As i picked it out, black liquid ran out from the side of the frog, it dosent smell, well i didnt notice any smell, does any one know what it is and how to treat it? thankyou

Sounds like a bit of thrush to me, the smell would be very bad though so maybe its not this.

If it is i wash mine out with salt water and spray with 9% (i think) iodine solution.

To keep it at bay i use liquid stockholm tar brushed on them

That perennial favourite, Sudocrem is excellent for thrushy frogs. Apply it liberally to the grooves. It will deal with any fungal infection.

yes sounds like thrush. I use some life science data stuff. When your pony has had lami yo become neurotic ans everything could in your mind be linked to lami.I know coz I am and mine has had it!

I have been putting a spray on his feet and they are much better! The blackness is going away and there is no more black runny stuff! Thankyou for all your help!
