Hi

Does anyone have any experience of feeding these?? My boys have both had problems with their feet in the past but they improved drastically when they went on a low sugar, high fibre diet. I also feed them magnesium, brewers yeast, seaweed, micronised linseed, salt and cider vinegar. They're both living out at the moment on good grass but get a small feed daily so I can get these bits into them.

I came across the BOSS and they have good reviews - I like the idea that they can be fed as a healthy treat too. Do any of you have experience of using these and if so, would feeding them alongside the above cause an imbalance - I believe they are high in magnesium but might have read that wrong??

Thanks

I haven't fed them myself, but they are popular here for putting weight on.
I'm guessing you would only need a small amount in each feed. i'm not sure if they would add anything more than just giving sunflower oil though?
The diet your 2 are on sounds pretty good already tbh.
Kx

I use them as a healthy treat for my barefoot horse. she loves them. i prefer to use them as treats because they are great for weight gain and at the moment she doesnt need that. in winter i keep them so if she needs weight gan then ill add to feed. if you do decide to feed then make sure you get to your poo before the birds do because the ones that are chewed up property they love finding and making a mess oof the poop. alternatively you can grind them up with a pestle and mortar.

I feed them to my two along with Flaky Bran, Lucerne Chaff, Oaten Chaff, Apple Cider Vinegar, Rosehips, Garlic, Dolomite, Brewer's Yeast, Kelp (seaweed meal), French White Millet and Linseed. They get a cup of sunflower seeds each per feed (morn & night).

The black sunflower seeds are packed full of vitamins, minerals, Omega 3 and 6. They are great for a healthy, shiny coat and are good for weight gain.

This link has a little more about them.

Ditto Claribella... I gave up feeding them to mine because the flippin' birds spread the poo everywhere picking out all the undigested bits and it made poo-picking take FOR-EVAH!!!!!

If you don't have to poo-pick, I can't recommend them enough! :o)

This!!! They gave Fabio lovely dapples in his coat too. But couldn't out up with the crows scattering the poo everywhere anymore so stopped feeding them!

If you are feeding linseed, you shouldnt need to feed Boss as well as you are already giving enough omega 3 and 6. Your diet sounds ideal as it is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it or in this case change or add....:)
