Hi just a quick question I'm hunting tomorrow for the first time in a few years, always wore tweed before but since found out thats correct for autumn hunting.

Is black or navy correct for a woman or is either fine? I can ask someone from my yard in the morning who is going as well but as I would have to borrow a navy if that's correct thought I'd try here.

Think I'm more stressed about wearing the right thing than taking pony for the first time though he has supposedly gone in Ireland. Didn't think twice about taking other one and he'd definitely never been before though this one isn't as laid back.

Thanks

Most ladies in my hunt wear navy, myself included - but think black is acceptable too.

Tbh if you are smart, clean and tidy, I would be suprised if anyone commented on you wearing a tweed either, especially if you are a visitor. However a hunt coat will be warmer at this time of year!

Have a lovely day!

I agree with Sidney - Navy is more correct than Black, but as a visitor Tweed is perfectly acceptable. It is meant to be very cold tomorrow though!

Navy is more fashionable but either are correct.

There is a lot of rubbish talked about hunting kit -including the latest I heard, that navy was for ladies and black was for farmer's wives.

Wear whichever is warmest and most waterproof! Have fun and let us know how you get on :)

Thanks for the reply, went with the black and was about half in black half navy. Was actually too hot at one point was a very nice sunny morning after the horrendous rain in the early hours!

Had a great time pony behaved well had a few moments when we were standing which I expected as hes not great at standing when excited/worked up. Jumped a few jumps and just a generally nice morning and everyone was very friendly, so will definitely be going again. Once I've recovered have bad knees so literally couldn't stand when I got off and we were only out about 3 and a half hours! Pony was still full of it jogged the whole 2.5miles home.
