Sent hubby to get Donkey food this morning, including black sunflower seeds to start her on. The feed shop lady (and she is very good normally) refused to sell them to him, telling him you can't feed them to horses as they have shells on.

So, do they have shells on the ones you all buy? and can you give me yet again the reasons and quantities to feed so I can print it off and take it to show her. Or point me to some relevant sites

my two were fed the ones with shells on! i brought them online tho and they delivered them to my house (in a 25kg sack!)

Run a Search in Stableyard for "BOSS" and you should find all the links.

Part of the point of feeding them with the shells on is that the shells are part of the benefit of using them in the first place. You are missing half of the goodness if they do not have the shells on.

Tia started me about a year ago on these and my boys do very well - feed them the lot and I give mine a small mug twice a day - 14.3 gypsy cob and a 16.3 clydie.

My YO did at first do birdie whistles to wind me up - and you can get the odd seedling growing in the corners of the stable and muck heaps.
