I found out I can buy de-husked black "Sunflower hearts" for £29.20 for a 22.7kg bag

I just wondered whether these would be better value as easier for the horse to absorb?

No help I'm afraid but thought I'd mention I fed Black sunflower seeds last winter then in the summer had a couple of sunflowers in the field. I wondered where they'd come from to start with

This one has passed me by never heard of them - what do they do? Why do you feed them? Are they like a supplement?

I would have thought a horses teeth is more than capable of grinding the husk off a sunflower seed. Unless your horse is 30 and has no teeth!

Possibly if you had an older horse. Mine munch away through them - I do find the odd flower in the muck heap, but most of them don't seem to escape the system. Some people do soak them, I never have though.
