Not sure if this has already been posted but makes for really uncomfortable viewing doesn't it?

Jockey doesn't as much as ask the horse to go forwards at all before he starts leathering the poor thing

Have a feeling it may not reflect too well on Oscar Pistorius either, which is a shame after the pride we all felt at the Paralympian achievements.

yes, saw this on a different site.
Disgusting treatment of the horse, but I'm not sure that any blame can be put onto Oscar, I'm assuming he didn't know that the horse was going to be whipped continuously, and he wouldn't have seen what was happening.... I wonder what he thinks now he does know though?

I don't see what it has to do with Oscar? I'm sure he just got on with his stuff and stayed out of the horse business.

Very silly behaviour -aside from the obvious issue - as surely they knew this would be in heavy rotation?

Not saying it has anything to do with Oscar at all, just that the video is obviously supposed to be a positive one and I don't feel it now will be....

I think the argument would be acceleration and land speed are two different aspects. So 'faster' in this case means top speed, not 0 to whatever, hence a staggered start.

im not even sure why they did this and what it proves. I would imagine that, during the course of a normal race, the horse would run at a faster top speed that pistorius and the race conditions do not really favour how a horse runs. and secondly the horse would win hands down over a long distance race. Again, not sure what the point of this is :confused:

Thing was at the start the stuipid jockey was hitting the horse and preventing the horse from going forward??? - it may have been the noise that the runners blades were making or the movement of him.... but the poor animal did not look happy going forward and was rearing/napping backward at the start.

The jockey should have the same amount of strikes off a whip - idiot !

Just caught up with this and watched the video and it is shocking.
Why did they not use a pistol start or make a noise for the horse to run?
To whip it like he did was barbaric. Horse didn't know if it was coming or going.
All for a gimmick and a bit of publicity eh.
Whatever next?
