Blank studs?

Is it better to clean stud holes out and travl for a long journey with blank studs in or bung them and blank them once horse has travelled? Many thanks x

We always cleans stud holes the night before and put in blank studs for travel as they are easier to remove and insert new studs than fiddling with bungs and rethreading on the day. Have done both methods, and much rather have this method.

Yes I always do for the shorter ones but this is a 5hour journey- wil it be ok to blank them if they are stood for so long?

My blanks dont stand proud at all, I tend to leave them and just put them in for a long stretch with a hefty dose of WD 40.

where do you buy the blanks from? have searched for ages in tack shops and never found any!

Jade- when the horses shoes have got stud holes in them you can either leave them open, block them with cotton wool or put in little studs that fill the holes and keep them clean. I find it hard to find them too at the moment, am using my cotton wool stoppers up as I always lose theblanks!
