Bleeding melanomas - help?

Horse has accidentally caught one of the melanomas on the dock and made it bleed. I sprayed the area with blue spray (some tetracycline spray I think) and kept an eye but concerned incase it reopen sand flies get round it?

Any advice?

My vet once said to mix eqvalan wormer with vaseline and apply as it would keep the flies away.

other than that wash with salt water.

Treat like a normal wound when they open, wash with saline and apply a healing ointment, and fly repellent if required
