Statement from Blenheim:

Due to the rain that has been forecast for tomorrow, and the need to preserve the ground for the primary competition, we have regrettably had to cancel the Dodson & Horrell Riding Club Team Challenge.
The Dodson & Horrell Pony Club Team Challenge is still going ahead at this stage, but we are keeping a close watch on the conditions.

Whats your problem with Blenheim this year L?
Every Blenheim thread you've been quick to jump on and been sarcastic about the ground.
Of course the organisers want to be upbeat about the event.
If they want to save the ground a little is that a bad thing? we'd be all up in arms if two days of RC/PC made a mishmash of the ground. Afterall the 3* is the main event.

Its bright and sunny here, and quite breezy today. The outlook seems quite good. It going to be a mudbath whatever. With any luck it will turn it into more of a jumping competition than a dressage one.

Im looking forward to it like many, even if you dont seem to be.

because this may come as a shock to you but there will be many riding club and pony club (most likely ) people who will be disapointed at the last minute because there are people like you telling us the groung is 'good' and it isnt raining when quite obviously it isnt and it has.
obviously they want to run the three star but like i said where Goring was concerned (if you bothered to read that thread) i happen to think that on this occasion it should have been obvious to anyone the ground was not going to stand up to much and people could have been let down sooner.
i am sure some people will say it is better to wait to the last minute but in this case they could have made this desicion a week ago and maybe an alternative venue been found.
also i might be wrong but if it continues to rain then there will be huge amounts of withdrawals, the injury list is bound to rise and if those things happen its not exactly hreat PR is it.
these events are insured for cancelation you know, something which blenheim rarely has to do, but once they start then they really feel obliged to continue when any one day would abandon.

Commiserations to all that were looking forward to it - I was v interested in seeing the new format at work.

FWIW our fields, etc are absolutely waterlogged even though it is breezy here today.

I'm meant to be doing the PC team challenge. I hope it runs, it's the only way I'll ever get to ride at Blenheim! Just wondering, anyone know the dress code? Rules say it's PC SJ rules, so Jacket and back protector, or are XC colours meant to be worn?

Our team (RC) were going to wear beige jods, skull caps and RC sweatshirt I think. I would call your DC and ask, nothing worse than being the odd one out!

Well we always suffer badly from the rain, it just sits here and makes the ground sodden. Put it this way, you wouldn't canter in our fields ATM if you valued your shoes!

Am coming with DieselDog Friday so will let you know what time we will arrive when I know

I got the news mid morning from our RC team organiser.....very disappointed as I always book the Thurs off at the beginning of the year and look forward to our day at Blenheim.....its the nearest I'll ever get to riding at Blenheim!!!!

At least I can use the 2 tickets to have a free day at Blenheim tomorrow and get over my disappointment with some retail therapy!!!

Bit disapointed as I was looking forward to it, but glad I dont have to bath and Plait tonight!

Its an inter riding club team event thats run over SJ's and portable XC fences, lowest faults closest to optimum time wins, best 3 scores from each team of 4 to count.

It says 'cross country dress,' so our Pony Club are wearing beige jods and XC tops in our PC's colours. Back protectors are compulsory. Fingers crossed it runs!
