Having been at work since 6 this morning, i hurried to the yard to clip my mares legs at 3 as she has mud fever and so much feather i cannot see to get rid of it! She has never been clipped in her life and being 9 i was a bit nervous..turned the clippers on and she just turned round from her haynet and looked at me and then turned back! Good as gold. Then spent the next half hour hibiscrubbing her legs and then another 2 hours trying to dry them to put cream on...
I feel so sorry for her I know it must hurt...and she now looks like a poodle to top it off!! poor girl

I think she already knows..the look she gave me was like 'oh what the hell are you doing to me now' kind of look...hehe maybe she knew I was trying to help her

That is brilliant, it is almost a pleasure clipping horses like that. Now that you have clipped her try using the sudocream( nappy cream) then wrap in clingfilm, or in Sportabac leg wraps when you turn out. that will encourage the scabs to soften and come off as you remove the boots/clingfilm and save you having to scrub them with Hibiscrub and wait for them to dry. Its much kinder than picking and scrubbing
