i liked it for a while but soon became to hate it, it leaves a horrible taste in your mouth when you open a new bale. i also found it could be quite slippery as its kinda shiney!lol.
It was ok, nothing like as good as hemp/flax but then nothing like the price of them either!!! I mixed it with shavings and did a season on it but this year just going with good old straw!
I used it first when my cob was on box rest. I used the citronella one to help keep the flies away. I then used the eucalyptus one mixed in with straw for my geldings bed just to help the smell. My sister uses it for the ponies in the field shelter - is easy to manage and they don't eat it unlike straw which as one is laminitic is a bonus!!
We both like it - if I had one horse I would still use it but as I have two I use the wood pellets now.
I have just started using it on top of equisorb which has gone up in price again. Depending on where you are in Somerset, you can get it from Ridemore in Wincanton, it's currently £6.89 bale.
i loved it- i used the citronella as it stopeed teh wobbly cob from eating it!!! I havnt had it for a while as fatty mark 2 doesnt seem to munch normal straw as much. it works v well with mats.
I use it and love it. You get a lot per bale and is cheaper than anything else round here. Its very absorbant and doesn't move around much/ get stirred up, plus I find you can easily seperate wet from dry. Only downside is it makes me sneeze!
I've used Bliss and other brands of shredded rape straw.
It's okay, comparitively cheap compared to other wrapped bale bedding. Very similar in absorbancy and handling to shavings. Not a patch on the hemp products for absorbancy but is cheaper.
As far as I am aware it is fairly easy to get hold of. I buy mine from a feed merchants at £6.75/bale so if you bought it direct from manufacturers must be cheaper, esp in bulk.
