Blisters on 3rd fingers

I have been working my boy more in an outline and have found that I am getting blisters on my third fingers on the outside edge by my 1st knuckle - hope that makes sense

I think its where I am using my fingers more to squeeze the rein. I wear gloves but any ideas how to stop this as they are very sore

If you are getting blisters how do you think he is feeling? You must be putting a huge amount of pressure on the bars of his mouth. We say it so many times - the outline doesn't come from the front but from behind. Sorry but I think you are probably being too hard on your horse's mouth if you have blisters.

I agree and do ride him up into the contact, I even move my hands forward to take all the pressure off as he will then hold himself

Are you using rubber reins?
that's the only time I've ever had blisters from riding as the little rubber bumps rub the skin as you lengthen or shorten your reins

I used to get them when the Dizz was in super ar&e mode. Snatching and head tossing.

Decent gloves is your answer!
