I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of horse blood banks?

Rebound was diagnosed with navicular two years ago and despite trying everything he still isn't right and isn't likely to come back into full work. Therefore I am possibly looking at other options. He is a 16 tb (national hunt type) who is 10 years old, he is a good doer for a tb and is not on any medication or any other problems apart from his navicular.

From the reading I have done about them he sounds suitable, I understand there may be a long waiting list? If anyone can tell me their experiences and/or send me contact details of any of the blood banks I would appreciate it. :)

They only take in the spring / earlyish summer as they come in for the winter so try to keep numbers down.
My previous horse went to the one in Bucks (also navicular).
They are very stringent in who they take as so many people have tried to off load horses due to economic climate. The one near me was getting 80+phone calls a week at one point.
If you can get your horse in it will have the best care possible. I drive up a couple of times a year when they're out to have a nosy over the fence, I've seen him a couple of times when he's been near the top. I also know a lady who works there so she tells me now and again that's he's ok.
Good luck.

Was it MrsB or similar on here that looked onto this at great detail? Maybe put blood banks into the search option and see of you can find it.
