My mongrel became a blood donor today. He was treated like royalty and got lots of love and treats. Every step of the session was geared to make him feel at ease and there was no expectation to proceed if he showed any concerns.

But he took it all in his stride and I'm very proud of him.

He officially has a job now :D

Ooh, he's a big handsome boy! I'd love one of mine to do it, I think he's verging on the right weight and is definitely of good temperament. Is it still 25kg to allow them to donate? How long did it take? And was it your usual vet? Mine doesn't do it.

Check the pet blood bank website. All the info about becoming a donor is there. They arrange collection sessions, so experienced at making a dog feel comfortable throughout the process. My lily used to wag her tail the whole time they used to say it helped the blood come quicker.
