Blood test results - not great

OMG, just got J's blood tests and it shows he has elevated urea. In other words, his kidneys are under stress. He has low red cells and increased globulin (inflammation).

I am devastated. I have to get a urine sample for analysis.

Apparently, the low RBC could be due to the fact he is 'cold blooded' and the globulins due to lameness since May. Its the high urea/kidney problems which I am freaking out about.

Please what can I do to help him? Anybody else had experience of this? Any advice would be warmly welcome.

Thank you.

I really have no idea as the vet didnt tell me. I wish she had now.

A urine test yesterday showed very high levels of protein and urea.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you x

you do want to your globulin level to be slighty higher than your albumin level. is your total protein level normal? the best thing you can do is go into to your vets ask to see ya reselts ask him to go through with you and sk him with are high normal etc and ask what the things mean on your blood test that will give you are better under standing. and if some things are high ask what it could be?

Thank you thank you thank you! Are you a vet Babybells?

Protein is raised. I tried to speak to the vet, but she was 'too busy' and did not make eye contact with me, ignoring me in other words.

I have re-evaluated Jake's feeding and I think I may have been feeding him too much protein inadvertently. Could this be the cause?

He is not urinating excessively or drinking and has not lost a lot of weight.

I would really appreciate your thoughts. Thank you.

no i am not a vet. i have just done a hell of a lot of research into to this since i lost my girl a few months ago it is surprising how much i have learned and quickly. protine is usually rasied due to the livernot breaking it down probally. if your vets have no time for you get a second opoion. do you know what your blood tests were called and taken for? no what you are feeding should not have any say on the bloods but you will never know. please keep me informed on how your horse gets on. how many bloods have been run on your horse?
