I was slightly worried that Ben was a little too laid back over the summer, the last SJ comp we did I had to kick him like a ponyclubber in the practice arena to get him going on, and thought perhaps he wanted to take thinks slightly easier (well he is 24 after all).
However today was our opening meet, and I can safely say that Ben does not feel like retiring any time soon. Prob from the instand I produced the plaiting kit this morning he was on his toes, and when the hounds were let out of the trailer, he was just delighted.
We jumped quite a bit and he went really well (not pulling as much as last year but I won't complain about that), so really looking forward to the rest of the season now.
Waiting for the off!
Jumping an open ditch near the end of the day (v fast because another horse threatened to overtake him (and his majesty likes to be at the front)

PS - if anyone wants to see pics of the bloodhounds then I can put some of them up as well
