I called the vet this morning and still waiting for a call back
Last night I noticed my horse had a very bloodshot left eye, as in the whole white bit above his iris was very red (the sclera I think it is called). There is no heat, no swelling, they aren't watery and no gunk is coming out, and just the usual amount of "sleep" in the corner of his eye this morning. He's reactive to me waving my hand in front of it (he blinks) and tried to have a look in there but couldn't see anything. I've bathed it with some cooled boiled water, popped his fly mask on and turned out. He's bright and happy in himself, not bothered about me trying to touch it. The only thing I can think of is on Sunday he did a couple of quite hard snorts and coughs when I was riding and I was wondering if he might have popped a blood vessel like a human would if we did the same - is this possible?
I am very wary when it comes to eyes but you wouldn't even no anything was wrong with him until you see the red. Has anyone dealt with anything similar? Googling doesn't seem to bring up anything similar surprisingly! Thanks!
