Am so p*ssed off!!!! Really annoys me when people don't look after their horses!

Two horses on yard tonight had no bed at all just a few shavings and a lot of muck, no water and no hay left. Poor horses i really feel sorry for them. The man does usually look after his horse at least but i feel so sorry for the little pony!

They had for about a month and then decided she is too small and are now selling her. The mans girlfriends daughters are not allowed to go up as the man doesn't want them getting any closer to pony. Poor thing though shes gone from having so much love and attention to nothing at all!

Her coat is all sticking, shes so badly neglected and she seems so unhappy in herself! I just want to have her and love her and give her the fuss she needs. Shame they want £5000 for her!

Why do people buy horses if they aren't going to look after them????

It is sad, I dont know why some people have horses. Its not just happening at your yard, it happens all over the place. Always has and always will! Its about time that they brought in some type of means testing and a basic qualifications that people have to pass before they can own a horse.

All this passport business was a complete farse, I got mine way before the dead line, but I know so many people that dont bother! Crazy

It's really up to the YO to decide if the bedding is not enough for the horse to comfortable stay in the stable. I imagine the ILPH have better things to do with their money and resources than check a horse that feels unhappy and maybe doesn't have quite enough shavings. I would always put water in for a horse that didn't have any, you never know the full situation with any owner and as much as you can't do anything about a comfy bed for the night you can at least fill a water bucket.

Obviously if the lack of water continues I would be telling the YO that you were having to regularly water the pony.

i know what you mean where i use to keep my mare there use to be a lovely 16hh thoughbred he was georgous but the girl who had him didnt give a sh** about him and left him in a ft high of dirty muck no food and no water
i use to give him water every time i went down at one point he drunk 3 bucket full of water in just under a hour
i was shocked to know someone could leave him like it
yes he didnt have the goodist manners on the world
but with a lot of time and edication he would of come right
the yo had said a number of times about him but totaly ignored her
if only i was in the postion at the time to buy another i would of defently people like that dont deserve decent horses or ponys
report it if they havent got food and water

Ditto this. Also, I was under the impression that YOs now have a duty of care to animals kept on their property so it is in their interest to ensure the animal at least has water otherwise they could get into trouble also.

As long as the horse isn't suffering then I know its not nice to not have 3 million hugs a day but its not going to kill it.

having no water and food will
the yo should say something to the owner but in all respects the yo can only do so much
its the owners full responsibilty to in sure the horse is propley watered and feed and correctly looked after if he really wanted to get rid he would put asking price down as it seems abit much too me

She had quoted my post in her own post which clearly stated the horse SHOULD have water at all times and a decent level of bedding.

I think the point was it's not negligence if the horse just isn't get brushed and hugged, however, the water and bedding IS an issue.
